Well, I promised my father I'd post a picture of the solid (yet collapsible) tow bar he made for us while we were home over xmas break, once I got it attached. We brought it back on the plane with us in a box as luggage, with clothing packed around it for cushioning, and amazingly, it made it all the way to Bethel with just a minor hole poked in the box. And, even with my shaky measuring efforts in the snow a month ago, it ended up fitting darn near perfectly on the sled. So go team.
I've just taken it "around the block" so far after getting it hooked up Wednesday night, but after pulling the sled with a rope a few times this fall, the difference with the solid rig is unreal. Thanks dad!!!
